2020 Nonpartisan impact

41 nonpartisan partner organizations
trusted vote tripling tactics in 2020.

Together, we sparked more than 250,000 friend-to-friend voting reminders

“Vote tripling was a successful amplification of our work in the 2020 election. Because the tactic is RCT-proven, we know we scaled our outreach in a meaningful way.”

— Andrea Hailey, CEO, Vote.org

“According to research, relational organizing is the most effective type of electoral outreach. And because PPVT is one of the best ways to scale relational organizing, we ran PPVT programs for both the general election and the Georgia runoffs.”

— Bobby Brady-Sharp, National Organizing Director, When We All Vote

Regranting program
Thanks to a generous donation, we were able to support 13 organizations’ vote tripling programs through regrants. The financial support brought these research-backed innovations to scale, reaching voters in historically disenfranchised communities. Nearly 100% of this money went to BIPOC-lead organizations doing work in BIPOC communities, and more than 70% of supported organizations had fewer than five staff.

“The support provided by Vote Tripling Action Fund helped us to engage new Native voters in the electoral process. This helped drive Native voter turnout to historic levels in 2020, particularly in Arizona.”
— Debbie Nez-Manuel, Maricopa County Community Organizer, Morning Star Leaders, Inc.

Partner spotlight:
Make the Road Pennsylvania

In the 2020 U.S. general election, the key state of Pennsylvania had record voter turnout. Groups like Make the Road Pennsylvania were key contributors to Pennsylvania’s record-breaking voter turnout.

Essential to Make the Road Pennsylvania’s Election Day mobilization effort was a hybrid voter protection and PPVT program run in Philadelphia, Allentown, and Reading. Volunteers engaged voters in English and Spanish, urging them to call and text friends and family to get them to vote.

We estimate that Make the Road Pennsylvania’s program reached 25,000 voters on Election Day alone.

“Vote tripling was a complete value add to our efforts to ensure as many people as possible exercised their right to vote in the 2020 election. We’ll use the tactic for years to come thanks to Vote Tripling Action Fund’s incredible partner support and training.”
— Ivan Garcia, Civic Engagement Director, Make the Road States

Vote Rev’s programs helped mobilize voters in the Georgia Senate runoff.

On January 5th, 2021, Georgia voters participated in runoff elections to choose both of their senators. Vote Rev ran direct voter contact programs and trained 19 partners, in the Georgia Senate runoff.

Together, we reached tens of thousands of voters in all of Georgia’s 159 counties with our flagship tactic, polling place vote tripling (PPVT), with voters sending at least 9,588 reminders to friends and family to vote.

Thanks to our donors, partners, allies, friends, and families who supported us in this work!

We are also grateful to the many people who came before us who led the way in mobilizing their communities to vote. Many of our nation’s most important Movements—including Farm Workers, Labor, Civil Rights, and Racial Justice—have used relational tactics, and we are honored to build upon their important and pioneering work.

But wait, there’s more
