Dae Levine

BOARD MEMBER

Dae Levine is a veteran communications and campaign strategist with deep experience in political mobilization, public affairs, and advocacy. She currently serves as a Senior Communications Advisor in the Los Angeles City Council.

Dae has spent her career driving high-impact campaigns at the intersection of democracy, equity, and public engagement. She served as Chief Communications Officer for Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, shaping strategic messaging on major civic initiatives, including climate action and COVID-19 response. She has held leadership roles at Essential Media Communications and Greenpeace Australia Pacific, and advised national advocacy organizations including Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Human Rights First, and the SEIU.

A longtime advocate for participatory democracy, Dae previously worked with Vote for America, where she helped design strategies to engage new voters and expand the electorate. Internationally, she played a key role in Australia’s successful marriage equality campaign and led global communications efforts for the creation of the world’s largest marine protected area in the Southern Ocean.

Dae holds a Master of Public Administration from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, where she focused on electoral policy, and a B.A. from Barnard College. She has taught graduate courses in policy analysis and public sector communications at Columbia, and was honored with Barnard’s Millicent Carey McIntosh Award for Feminism.

Now based in Los Angeles, Dae continues to focus on turning strategy into action—and believes that good communications can move people, policy, and power.
